How to Use Our Heat Reflective Paint ?
Step 1. Prepare Your Surface
For optimal results, begin by thoroughly cleaning the application area. Use clean water or a mild stain remover to remove any dust, dirt, moss, or oil stains to ensure paint adhesion.
Step 2. Stir the Paint
Once your surface is prepped, give your HEATAX paint a good stir for about a minute. If you are using a mechanical stirrer, 30 seconds will suffice. Bear in mind, do not add water or any other thinners to the paint during this process, as this can compromise its effectiveness.
Step 3. Apply First Layer
For the first layer, aim for a thickness of around 100 microns (0.1mm). If you are brushing or rolling HEATAX, apply it in smooth, back-and-forth motions for around 3 times to ensure even coverage. For applications with spray guns , maintain a distance of 30-45 cm from the surface and set your air compressor to 8 psi for optimal results.
Step 4. Leave First Layer to Dry
Allow the first layer to dry completely. This will typically take 0.5-1 hour and the surface should no longer feel sticky to the touch before proceeding to the second coat.
Step 5. Apply Second Layer
Apply a second layer of paint using the same method as your first coat, but aim for a thickness of 300 microns (0.3mm) instead, which will usually take 8-9 strokes with a brush or roller. In total, the combined thickness of both wet coats should be around 400 microns (0.4mm), while the final dry film thickness should be approximately 250 microns (0.25mm).
Once your second layer dries completely, the application process will be complete and you can expect a nice matte finishing from your HEATAX heat blocking paint . Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the cool comfort and energy savings your new heat shield provides!
